SHEA leads the field of healthcare epidemiology and healthcare-associated infection (HAI) prevention research.  SHEA’s commitment to current and future healthcare epidemiology researchers extends beyond its guidelines, policy positions, and other resources, to foster opportunities to conduct, sponsor, and promote high-quality research.

Through training and skill-based professional development offerings SHEA ensures a future cadre of healthcare epidemiology researchers. Expert guideline development, policy initiatives, and SHEA’s journal lay the foundation of science to the patient bedside. The SHEA research Network and collaborative efforts within the member community foster new research enterprise by highlighting priority topics that address the current challenges in elimination of HAIs.
