Annual Meeting Planning Committee
This committee plans and holds scientific meetings for the Society. It is tasked with developing and evolving effective meeting planning protocol to provide a high level of consistency and quality for every meeting. The committee reports directly to the CME Committee Chair as well as the Board of Directors on various issues.

CME Steering Committee
This committee develops the organization, structure, and method of Continuing Medical Education (CME) for SHEA as an accredited provider of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).

Education Committee
This committee is responsible for planning and conducting training courses and continuing education workshops in healthcare epidemiology, to include the SHEA/CDC Training Course in Healthcare Epidemiology.

External Affairs Committee
This committee is tasked with organizing SHEA courses held by allied societies in the US and abroad. The committee also manages the SHEA Scholarship Award.

Patient Safety/Quality Improvement Committee
This committee focuses on quality improvement, patient safety in hospitals, the Project to Monitor Indicators, surgical site infections, and other healthcare associated infections.

Publications Committee
This committee oversees and makes policy recommendations to the Board of Directors concerning all formal SHEA contracts with publishers, publications, and journals.

Public Policy and Government Affairs Committee
This committee is charged with representing the Society on issues related to the development of legislative or administrative policies governing the practice of healthcare epidemiology. At the direction of the President and Board of Directors of the Society, the Committee is also charged with developing official Society responses to proposed or existing public policy issues and advising the President and Board on the delegation of spokespersons for the Society on such issues.
