Mirian Dal Ben, MD, Msc

Dr. Mirian Dal Ben, MD, Msc is a Hospital Epidemiologist and Infectious Disease physician at Hospital Sírio Libanês, São Paulo, Brazil, and a Phd student at University of São Paulo. She graduated from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) in 2004 and completed her residency and training in Infectious Diseases at Universidade de São Paulo (São Paulo, Brazil) in 2008.

In 2007, she had the opportunity of doing a 3-month training in the antimicrobial resistance laboratory at the Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In 2010, she got her Master of Science degree after studying the transmission dynamics and control of multiresistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Acinetobacter spp. in intensive care units. She is currently finishing her Phd and working on Mathematical Models for the study of carbapenem resistant enterobacteriaceae transmission dynamics in healthcare settings and its best control strategies.

She is a board member of APECIH (Association of Infection Control professionals in São Paulo) and is currently working on translating SHEA Compendium into Portuguese with other members of the Association. She helped organize two SHEA training courses in Brazil in 2012 and 2014. Both events were huge successes with 100 attendees attending and a waiting list for each conference.

Dr. Dal Ben served as an International Ambassador for SHEA in 2011. Currently, she is co-vice chair of SHEA External affairs committee.
