Adobe Acrobat ".pdf" format
The "pdf" file format, developed by Adobe, has become a de facto standard for complicated forms and brochures to be downloaded from the Web. The most widely used program for reading such files is the free Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Newer versions of pdf files may require you to get a newer version of Acrobat Reader.
MS Word ".doc" format
The Microsoft Word ".doc" format is another de facto standard for business documents. Like the pdf format, the format has changed with time. Many word processing programs can read and edit documents in the MS Word ".doc" format, including the freely available Open Office software suite. For reading only, you can download a document viewer from the Microsoft Word site.
