Letter from the President

Dear SHEA Members,
In response to the disaster resulting from Hurricane Katrina, we will be posting information on the SHEA web site related to infection control in healthcare facilities during disasters. We are working with APIC so that such information will appear on both the SHEA and APIC web sites. We hope this will be of use to you, if colleagues traveling to involved areas ask you about such issues, or if you are traveling as part of a coordinated effort.
If you have relevant policies or procedures or know of web sites containing information concerning infection control in healthcare facilities during disasters (e.g. disinfection/sterilization with limited resources, etc.), please e-mail them to vleon@shea-online.org. These will then be posted on our web site, www.shea-online.org. Thanks for your assistance in this time of need.

Sincerely,
Dr. Leonard Mermel
SHEA President
