SHEA has received a contract from the CDC to create the SHEA/CDC Training Program for Healthcare Epidemiologists to Respond to Infectious Diseases Outbreaks and Public Health Emergencies in United States Hospitals. This SHEA/CDC Outbreak Response Training Program (ORTP) contains several components that will be released from 2016-2018.

“DecisionSim” Modules - Summer 2017
This online simulation-based technology platform enhances decision-making through an assessment, education, and training program delivering feedback and improving outcomes through “real-world” engagement. One module focuses on a CRE case-study and the other on leadership techniques. These online simulations can be completed right from your computer!

Effective Communication Webinars – February, May, & July 2017
These expert-led 60-90 minute webinars will provide theory and practical advice in effective leadership, clear communication, and conflict management. Experts will address challenges of emergency response, including reprioritization of resources, time constraints, increased demands on healthcare workers, and strategic communications with media and public.

Tool Kits – Fall 2017
These decision-support tools, provide at-a-glance summaries of recommendations derived from the collection and analysis of information and data for the expert guidance document, and other educational activities. Decision-support tool formats include:

  • Hard-copy “pocket cards”
  • Mobile application forms & checklists

Tool kit topics planned include:

  • Incident management
  • Infection prevention measures during an outbreak
  • Implementation tools
  • Communication strategies
