The SHEA Education and Research Foundation, and the SHEA Research Committee are pleased to announce the availability of a new research grant award, the SHEA Research Scholars Award. This grant will award up to $40,000 to an early investigator within 5 years of completion of training to conduct a research project that addresses knowledge gaps and new challenges in healthcare epidemiology and antibiotic stewardship research. The winner will be announced and presented with the award at IDWeek 2018 in San Francisco, CA.

Key Dates:

  • June 1: Application submission period begins.
  • June 29: Application submission period closes.
  • August 13: Winner is announced and notified
  • October 2018: Winner presented with grant award at IDWeek
  • April 2019: Winner presents preliminary results at SHEA Spring Conference

Eligibility Criteria: Applicants are early investigators who possess a MPH, PhD, PharmD, or MD and are within 5 years of completion of training. Applicants will submit project ideas to be executed with the oversight of a mentor. A letter of confirmation plus a biographical sketch of the mentor is required for the grant application. Should the Research Committee receive more than one application that scores high during the application evaluation period, and they are within the $40,000 limit, multiple grants will be awarded within a single grant cycle.
